What's the Rush? An Ounce of Prevention Whatever It Takes Consistency Teamwork |
I am here to provide a working, reliable set of computer-related services to the company's staff. The company depends heavily on its computer resources. I believe that it's a major part of my job to keep those services going in a smooth and uninterrupted fashion. I do not take it lightly when there are problems. I don't consider my responsibility to the company to be concluded when I go home at night.
Although I haven't been involved in very many serious failures, there have been some. When that happens, I don't care if it's the middle of the night; the problem gets addressed immediately.
I take the same attitude toward scheduled downtime: service disruption must be minimised. I schedule major projects for nights and weekends. This means I sometimes work more weekends than I'd like, but that's part of the job.
